How to submit:
Please submit everything to this google form no matter the media type:
Cover letters are required! You can find an example HERE if you'd like to use that as a template. We accept up to 2 submissions at once during each reading period but they must be in different media. So, for example, you can submit both a fiction story and a photo series at the same time, but not 2 fiction stories at the same time.
We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know if you have been accepted elsewhere!
We do not accept previously accepted work.
We only accept original work.
If you are under 18:
What to submit:
Prose (fiction, poetry, interviews, reviews)
Fiction: 5,000 words max
short stories, novel excerpts, short plays. etc.
Poetry: 5 poems max, 5 pages max
any kind of poems accepted
Interviews: 1,000 words max
fantasy authors only
Reviews: 600 words max
any kind of fantasy media reviews accepted
Other media (photography, art, music)
Photography: images must be 300 RPI min
photo series, single photo, etc.
Art: images must be 300 RPI min
illustrations, painting, digital art, collage, etc.
Music: 5 minutes max
just a recording is fine, but sheet music is encouraged to submit as well
What we ARE looking for:
We are looking all things fantasy! This can include things like magic, kingdoms, new worlds, or anything you can imagine.
We are looking for original work unpublished anywhere else. Having your work on your own site or social media is fine, but if we publish the work please delete the post etc.
Age groups specifics:
11 - 14 year olds: Keep it PG. That means to keep a general audience in mind. Some sword fighting and some kisses are perfectly okay.
15 - 17 year olds: You are a more gray area. Keep it PG-13, but keep in mind your general audience. But of course, high schoolers will do as high schoolers do.
18 and up: PG-17 is the technical restriction, but keep in mind the young adult genre standard.
What we are NOT looking for:
We are not looking for fan fiction. We love inspired young authors, but please be sure to write, draw, and create original work only.
We do not accept anything created by AI software. Please keep your imagination alive and create your work yourself!
We are not looking for anything with harmful themes such as racism, sexism, homophobia, anything related to hate speech, or anything with gratuitous violence or sexual harassment. Please keep in mind this is a Young Adult magazine.
